Casting was done by us (Marly and Stephen). We believe that directing starts with casting and challenge ourselves to mix professionals with non-actors who live in the spaces that they seek to represent. This approach takes into account both the geographical nature of place and the emotional reality of the story. Our approach to filmmaking, as with casting, is one that favors authenticity over professional credentials.
